Oni (おに, lit. Demon) is the fourth difficulty setting in Taiko no Tatsujin, after Kantan (かんたん, Easy), Futsuu (ふつう, Normal) and Muzukashii (むずかしい, Hard). Serves as the hardest difficulty, many Taiko players in Japan play it to improve their Taiko skill as well as to look for challenges.
I remember when I played Oni difficulty on PS2 for the first time. It was very hard as I couldn't do hand-switching that time, but it didn't make me stop playing. Instead, I kept trying to just pass the notechart. There was one funniest moment when I repeated the same song lots of times just because of missing one note.
A similiar experience happened when I played the same difficulty on arcade also for the first time, particularly Taiko Arcade 6. As I never played on arcade before and due to the broken Taiko drum, I cannot FC-ing songs that could be easily FC-ed on PS2. Even my hands became stiff because of too much playing.
Nevertheless, I still enjoy playing Taiko until now.
